Cowie needs a bus service to the new hospital in Larbert
23 JuneThere's no direct bus service from Cowie to the new Forth Valley Royal Hospital in Larbert. Isn't it time we had one?
At the moment, those of us dependent on public transport have to get a bus into Bannockburn and then another to Larbert to get to the new hospital.
But First could easily route a bus through Cowie, making access to the multi-million pound hospital easy for those who need it most.
The issue was raised by Bannockburn Community Councillor Terry Barlow at a recent meeting with Health Board chiefs.
According to the Stirling Observer, he said: "People from Cowie need to get a bus into Bannockburn to then get another one to get to Larbert.
"People in Cowie didn't ask for their acute hospital to be in Larbert. NHS Forth Valley also have a duty to the people of Cowie to ensure they are provided with exactly the same service as people from Dollar or other places. To leave a little village on its own is scandalous.
"Twice last year the road was flooded between Bannockburn and Larbert or between Bannockburn and Plean. Guess where the bus went - through Cowie."
Mr Barlow was told that he should raise the issue with bus operators First.
So let's do just that. Treat this article as a kind of petition. If you want a direct bus from Cowie to Larbert, say so using the Have Your Say box below - and say why, too. Give them good reason.
If enough people seem to want the service, we'll take it to First and ask them to act.
